Me and The Beast are a synthpop band from Berkshire in the South East of England. Me and the Beast started life as an synthpop duo with members Carly Cunningham and Ashley Bull. Formed in October 2008, singer Carly and Producer Ash embarked on a journey to create an eclectic mix of classic electric pop with a modern alternative edge. In October 2008, Ash’s friend Damo (real name Damien Bidmead) joined the band on bass. Having a passion for bands like Depeche Mode, Soft Cell, Yazoo and synthpop, and having a fair bit of performance experience, this was a natural progression for Me and the Beast. In the New Year of 2009, the band was joined by drummer 'Wooky' (real name David Strows) for live shows and recording. Now a complete four piece, Me and the Beast play live regularly, their favourite haunt being the Dublin castle in Camden. Me and the Beast came runners up out of thousands bands at the Live and Unsigned 2009 competition and were awarded and praised by the legendary Annie Nightingale and Sex Pistols manager, Malcolm McLaren. The band have also appeared on BBC Radio as part of the BBC introducing initiative and have played at a number of BBC Festivals and events Me and the Beast have also gained many followers and fans through their website and especially the ‘Friday Night Sessions’ where the band perform a new song for the fans and allow them to help choose the songs that will appear on their next album. That’s if they aren’t gigging in London… Descriptions of the band… "ME AND THE BEAST" – They’re from London but this left field lyrical electro pop has a Björk like eccentricity, Kate Bush enigmatics in the vocals, and even a touch of the Abbas in the music….piano, electro keyboards with bit of Fiery Furnaces quirkiness. Really original, weird and wonderful songs. Very unselfconscious and hypnotic."
